New packaging design in a brand stretch for The Danish Family Farms

Based on the existing The Danish Family Farms brand, we have created the design for sandwich slices – delicious and tasty chicken slices. The wish was for an atmosphere that celebrates country cuisine, great taste and good animal welfare. The home-cooked meal with proud traditions now needs a little help on a busy day, when you must make packed lunches for the children when you are going on a trip, or if you just need to go a little faster.

The design elements of the Danish Family Farms brand stretch

When brand stretching, it’s crucial to have a firm grasp of the essential design elements. Therefore, in the process, we disassembled an existing product design, assessed each element, and consciously used or discarded them to develop the design for the sandwich slices.

When you are a consumer, you want to feel like it’s a little bit homemade. In this case, the sandwich is made with love even though the chicken is pre-cooked. That is why we have used a typeface that radiates homemade and intimacy and brings a good feeling into the design.

Colours are crucial in the differentiation and, of course, a clear differentiation of the organic variant.

Undoubtedly, we were dealing with a very small facing compared to the many great stories we wanted to tell, which is why it’s always a question of prioritisation in the hierarchy. The Danish Family Farms have many strong design elements in their brand, and the trick here was to choose and use some of them in new ways. Like here, where we have decided to emphasise the illustrated farm and give it plenty of speaking time by using it in a new way in the packaging design.
